A bit about this painting!

The idea for Watch out! was to keep the nostalgia theme going and of course, like many other kids my generation I thought of Super Mario!

I played so many hours on GameBoy and Super Nintendo! I had to do a tribute to one of the most stressful moments of the game: jumping over those flowers coming out of pipes!

For this piece, I actually started by the end. I started by the pipe frame before the actual painting. I had a specific vision in mind and like all good things that’s never been done before, (well I think so), it is always a bit of a headache to figure out the best way of achieving the vision. I wasn’t sure if it would work, hence why I started with it.

I have spent way more time than I should have at Húsasmiðjan (Hardware store chain here in Iceland) that day, measuring everything in the pipe section, but I felt pretty confident about the frame!

Then after I realized it was all gonna work out, I started on the painting. I wanted to give it a feel of computer game with the colors and the way of doing the highlights on the pipe on the canvas. Of course, like I usually do, I had to change it a little and make it my style, my vision of how this flower looks like in my own Universe.
